The Most Expensive Blogging Mistake

Blogging is the best job in the world, but if you're not careful, you'll spend all of the money you worked so hard to earn. This is the most expensive and common mistake bloggers make. I'm so guilty of this!

The Most Expensive Blogging Mistake

When you’re first thinking about starting a blog, you’ll read the same thing on every “how to start a blog” post. “it’s so cheap to start your own blog! Just $3.95 a month!” Okay, but what they aren’t telling you is how many shiny things there are to buy that promise to solve all of your problems. This is the number one most expensive blogging mistake you can make.

Courses, Courses Everywhere

We get so caught up in blogging and in making our blog the absolute best that we can, that we’re an easy sell for any product that hits the market. The other issue is that almost every product marketed to bloggers is only available for a very short time…or a short time until the price goes up.

We immediately think “oh I better buy this while it’s available, otherwise I won’t be able to get it when I really need it!”

Then we end up buying the ebook, ecourse, …and promptly forget about it.
Listen to me closely when I say that you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD BE investing in your blog and your blogging education. In fact, there are 4 things I feel like every blogger needs in order to be as successful as they can be… but we’ll get to those in a minute.

The issue is in my word of the year… Implement.

If you’ve been a blogger for any length of time, be honest with me, how many courses are sitting in the depths of your email, computer files, wherever – completely untouched?
I’ve devised a simple solution for this, but the main thing we need to do first is to stop the bleeding.
There are a few products that every blogger needs and I think you should absolutely invest in them, but then – STOP BUYING THE THINGS.

Stop buying the course that promises to teach you the secrets of an email list if your current focus is Pinterest. Stop buying the Facebook course that is as much as your car payment just because it’s only available once a year.
Let’s actually look at the products we already have, read them, implement them, and THEN decide whether we actually need another book or course.

The products that I hands down recommend and use myself are:

Elite Blog Academy

This course is the reason I’m a blogger. It taught me how to write great blog posts, how to market them, how to monetize my blog, basically step by step what to do to take my blog from zero posts and turn it into a business. It’s crazy expensive, it’s only available once a year, and it’ll change your life. It changed mine.  It isn’t available right now, but if you sign up for the waitlist, you’ll be notified when enrollment is open again and can decide if you can make room in the budget for this awesome investment.

The Ultimate Blogging Bundle

This thing is available only once per year and you should be buying it every single year. The products included change and if you only use 3 of the products, it paid for itself. I’ll buy it every year for the rest of my blogging life. Plus, a lot of the products included also have affiliate programs. Get them in the bundle for pennies, use the product and love it, then market it to your list and make money. Win – win – win.

The Blogging Stack

This is a lot like the Ultimate Bundle. Tons of blogging products for pennies on the dollar. It’s also available once a year and is also something I’ll buy every year until the end of time.

Pinteresting Strategies

This is the Pinterest strategy you need now that algorithms have killed your traffic. This strategy takes about an hour a day to implement, but it’ll skyrocket your traffic and isthe exact strategy that I use for Simple Living Mommy. Don’t have an hour a day to implement it? Hire this company to do it for you! I happen to know the people who run it…because I’m one of them and I’m married to the other one.

After you have all of these AND have implemented each one (at least the ones that pertain to your blog. The blogging bundle and the stack have so many resources in them, you’ll never be able to use them all.) Then and ONLY THEN can we think about buying the next hot course on the market.
Are you a blogger? If so, have you purchased blogging products that you’ve never used? How much money do you think you’ve wasted? Let me know in the comments!
